Nigella Lawson: Court Appearance 'Mortifying'

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson described her testimony in court as mortifying as trial lawyers put distortions of her private life on public display.

The BBC reports that Lawson took the stand as a witness in a fraud case against two of her former assistants. She was accused of habitually abusing cocaine and providing false testimony. While her assistants were eventually cleared of all charges, Lawson felt that her reputation had been dragged through the mud.

I did my civic duty, only to be maliciously vilified without the right to respond, Lawson said, before steering the interview away from self-pity and back to the second season premiere of her cooking show The Taste.
